IPI seeks to change the way investors work with advisors, and advisors work with investors, for the benefit of both. This year’s New York fall forum will be held at the Metropolitan Club.
Pelican Energy Partners’ Founder Mike Scott and Pfingsten Partners’ Founder Thomas S. Bagley, will jointly-lead a titled breakout session entitled, “Made in America…Again!” These manufacturing and energy investors discuss the economic and business impacts of the current resurgence of manufacturing in America. The session will explore:
- How sustainable is this current trend?
- What investment opportunities are resulting from the repatriation of manufacturing?
- What are the risks/implications for foreign holdings?
Mr. Scott has over 15 years of private equity and energy industry experience. Prior to founding Pelican Energy Partners Mr. Scott spent 4 years as a principal at Sorenson Capital Partners, a private equity fund in Salt Lake City, Utah with $650 million under management. Prior to joining Sorenson Capital Partners, Mr. Scott worked at Cameron International Corporation, a multi-national oilfield equipment company where he worked in corporate development and reported directly to the CFO. He also held various other management positions in global sourcing and project management and lean manufacturing, and he played a key role in implementing lean manufacturing techniques in manufacturing plants throughout the U.S. and Europe. Prior to attending business school, Mr. Scott spent 6 years in engineering roles at Valtek International Ltd. and AlliedSignal Inc, where he worked in product development and designed several new products for gas turbine based industrial power generation. He holds 5 patents and has received several design and technical achievement awards. Mr. Scott received a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from Brigham Young University and received an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Since founding Pfingsten in 1989, Mr. Bagley has been involved in all aspects of the firm’s private equity investment and management activities, and had experience working with middle market companies for many years before founding the firm. Prior to the formation of Pfingsten, Mr. Bagley was the Midwest Area Head of the Leveraged Capital Group at Citicorp North America, Inc. in Chicago. In that position, he was responsible for leveraged acquisition activities in 12 Midwestern states. Before Citicorp, he held various management and lending positions at Continental Bank, N.A. in Chicago and Cleveland. A Chicago native, Mr. Bagley holds a BA degree in Economics, with honors, from North Park College and an MBA degree in Finance from DePaul University.
